What is the Shopping Like in Wembley?

Wembley may be most famous for football and concerts, but you might be surprised just how much more it has to offer the residents of this part of north-west London.

As well as its great transport links (no surprise when it’s home to the biggest football stadium in the UK), it’s also teeming with a great mix of pubs, and restaurants offering cuisine from around the world. But did you know that Wembley is also a great place for a spot of retail therapy, too?

In this guide, we’ll explore the Wembley area from a shopping perspective, covering newer and more established areas, and highlight why it’s such a great place to live in London.

Wembley Park

The new Wembley Stadium opened in 2007, but as far as the redevelopment of the area was concerned, that was only part of the story. What were the car and coach parks serving the stadium have now been transformed into Wembley Park, a huge shopping, leisure and entertainment complex adjacent to the London Underground station of the same name.

As shopping in Wembley goes, this is where you’ll find the really big names at the top end of the market. Start by putting your best foot forward at footwear retailers like Vans, A6, Converse and Skechers; then get some great leisurewear from big-name brands including Adidas, Nike, New Balance and Puma.

"Remember that Wembley Park isn’t just about shopping: plan ahead and it really is a day out in its own right. A Cineworld cinema, a full-size tennis court and a virtual reality gaming centre are all available."

Those of you looking for a touch of luxury and style are well-catered for, too: brands including Calvin Klein, Levi’s, Superdry, Tommy Hilfiger, Sunglass Hut and Chapelle all have wide selections of products on offer. And don’t forget some of the most common names on the high street, with major outlet stores from the likes of M&S, Next, The Body Shop, Clarks and more.

But remember that Wembley Park isn’t just about shopping: plan ahead and it really is a day out in its own right. A Cineworld cinema, a full-size tennis court and a virtual reality gaming centre are all available, along with the Playbox table football and ping-pong centre, and even an arts studio.

Of course, all that shopping and activity will make you hungry and thirsty, and Wembley Park has got all your bases covered there, too. For the widest variety of options, your first stop should be BOXPARK, with more than 20 street food vendors offering chicken, pizza, Thai food, Indian food and much, much more. But if you’re after a more formal restaurant meal, then you won’t be short of choice there, either: take your pick of Frankie & Benny’s, Nando’s, Las Iguanas and the White Horse pub from the Fuller’s brewery.

Just two things to bear in mind: the Wembley Park complex is outdoors, so make sure you’re prepared for whatever the weather is like on the day. And of course, the area will be very busy if there’s a big match at Wembley Stadium or an event at the SSE Arena, so make sure you check the event schedule before planning your next shopping expedition.

Wembley Central

Shopping in Wembley isn’t all about the high-end labels and designer fashion at Wembley Park. Everyone living in the area also needs easy access to more everyday shopping facilities, and that’s exactly what they get at the Wembley Central shopping centre.

Wembley Central sits literally on top of the identically-named Underground, Overground and mainline train station. It’s a great place to get everything you need, and especially if you’re looking for electronics and technology: you’ll find Argos, CEX, EE and O2 all in close proximity. Tesco Metro and Iceland have you covered from a food shopping standpoint, while there’s also a large TK Maxx store for those wanting to bag a clothing bargain. And that’s not all that Wembley Central has to offer. There are also plenty of outlets to keep you fueled on your day out, including Creams Cafe, Costa and Wenzel's Bakery.

"You don’t have to stray too far from the shopping centre to find branches of most of the major banks, more high street names like Primark, Boots and Poundland, and a huge variety of fast food eateries."

It’s also worth saying that Wembley Central shopping centre sits as the focal point of all the shops on the Wembley High Road. You don’t have to stray too far from the shopping centre to find branches of most of the major banks, more high street names like Primark, Boots and Poundland, and a huge variety of fast food eateries.
